Two Arrested for Drug Trafficking at Fuerteventura Airport
Two men, aged 45 and 22, have been arrested at Fuerteventura Airport on suspicion of drug trafficking. One of the suspects was acting as a „mule,” a term used to describe individuals who smuggle illegal substances, often by concealing them on or inside their bodies.
The National Police became aware that one of the suspects was returning to the island, while the other was waiting in a car to receive the drugs he was carrying. According to an official police statement, the arrests took place when the first suspect approached the vehicle.
Further investigation revealed that the younger suspect was responsible for organizing the logistics that enabled the „mules” to transport narcotics. His role included arranging transportation to the airport using rental cars and purchasing airline tickets.
During a body search at the police station, officers discovered 203 grams of cocaine hidden in the underwear of the suspect who had been acting as the „mule.”
Following the discovery, both men, who already have criminal records, were detained on suspicion of drug trafficking and handed over to the appropriate judicial authorities for further legal proceedings.
